Lumipallo vyöryy jälleen!
Aineen taidemuseo ja Kemin taidemuseo järjestävät vuonna 2025 viidennen Lumipalloefekti-näyttelyn. Jenny ja Antti Wihurin rahaston WihuriEfekti- taidepalkinto 10.000 € jaetaan näyttelyn yhteydessä.
Pohjoisen taiteen ryhmänäyttelyiden sarja saa jatkoa tulevana vuonna 2025, kun Aineen taidemuseo ja Kemin taidemuseo yhdistävät voimansa ja järjestävät viidennen Lumipalloefekti-ryhmänäyttelyn.
Pohjoiset taidemuseot ovat vuodesta 2012 vuorotelleet, alun perin biennaalina alkaneen Pohjois-Suomen aluetaidenäyttelyn järjestämisessä. Edellisen kerran Lumipalloefekti nähtiin Oulun taidemuseossa vuonna 2021. Näyttelyssä on perinteisesti esitelty Lapin, Kainuun ja Pohjois-Pohjanmaan maakunnista tulevaa taidetta. Teokset valitaan kaikille avoimen haun perusteella. Teoksia tulee esille museoiden sisätiloihin ja Torniossa myös ulkotilaan.
Näyttelyn yhteydessä jaetaan Jenny ja Antti Wihurin rahaston WihuriEfekti- palkinto. Palkinnon arvo on 10.000 € ja se voidaan jakaa myös kahden taiteilijan kesken.
Tulevan Lumipalloefektin kuraattorina toimii Merja Briñón. Briñón on Helsingissä työskentelevä taidemanageri, kuvataiteilija ja kuraattori, joka on toiminut Taidekeskus KulttuuriKauppilan ja Art Ii Biennaalin taiteellisena johtajana sekä Helsingin taiteilijaseuran toiminnanjohtajana.
Aineen ja Kemin taidemuseo toivovat Lumipalloefektiin ennakkoluulotonta ja raikasta pohjoista nykytaidetta ja kannustavat kaikkia sukupuolia ja sukupuoli-identiteettejä edustavia ja eri vähemmistöihin kuuluvia henkilöitä hakijoiksi, riippumatta hakijan etnisestä alkuperästä, mahdollisesta toimintaesteestä, uskonnosta tai iästä. Hakea voi alalla toimiva ammattitaiteilija tai uransa alussa oleva ja alaa edelleen opiskeleva.
Taiteilijalle maksetaan näyttelypalkkio OKM:n suosituspalkkiojärjestelmän (OKM 2021) mukaisesti sillä ehdolla, että näyttely saa Museovirastolta hakemaansa avustusta.
Lumipalloefekti näyttely on esillä Aineen taidemuseossa Torniossa ja Kemin taidemuseossa 23.8.– 16.11.2025.

The Snowball Rolls Again!
The Aine Art Museum and the Kemi Art Museum will organize the fifth Snowball Effect exhibition in 2025. The WihuriEffect art prize of €10,000 from the Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation will be awarded
The series of group exhibitions of Northern art continues in 2025, as the Aine Art Museum and the Kemi Art Museum join forces to host the fifth Snowball Effect group exhibition.
Since 2012, Northern art museums have alternated in organizing the regional art exhibition of Northern Finland, which initially started as a biennial. The last Snowball Effect was seen at the Oulu Art Museum in 2021. Traditionally, the exhibition has showcased art from the regions of Lapland, Kainuu, and Northern Ostrobothnia. Works are selected through an open call. The exhibition will feature artworks displayed both indoors at the museums and outdoors in Tornio.
The Jenny and Antti Wihuri Foundation's WihuriEffect prize is awarded in conjunction with the exhibition. The prize is valued at €10,000 and can be divided between two artists.
The curator for the upcoming Snowball Effect is Merja Briñón. Briñón is an art manager, visual artist, and curator based in Helsinki, who has served as the artistic director of the Cultural Centre KulttuuriKauppila and the Art Ii Biennial, as well as the executive director of the Helsinki Artists' Association.
The Aine and Kemi Art Museums seek bold and fresh contemporary Northern art for the Snowball Effect and encourage applications from individuals of all genders, gender identities, and minority backgrounds, regardless of ethnic origin, potential disability, religion, or age. Applications are welcome from both professional artists in the field and those at the beginning of their careers who are still studying.
Artists will be paid an exhibition fee in accordance with the Ministry of Education and Culture's recommended fee system (OKM 2021), provided that the exhibition receives the requested funding from the Finnish Heritage Agency.
The Snowball Effect exhibition will be on display at the Aine Art Museum in Tornio and the Kemi Art Museum from August 23 to November 16, 2025.
