When selling your artwork or expertise to municipalities, the state or companies, you must take the new e-Invoicing Act into account, which entered into force in April 2020.
According to the Finnish e-Invoicing Act, based on the EU’s e-Invoicing Directive from 1 April 2020, any company or self-employed person with a Business ID shall, upon request, use electronic invoicing when the recipient of the invoice is a public organisation or company.
The e-Invoicing Act does not apply to companies with a turnover of less than EUR 10,000 or companies who serve private consumers. This means that the Act does not apply to the sale of artworks to private individuals.
In Finland, banks and many other service providers offer an e-invoicing alternative.
The e-Invoicing Act requires more detailed information to be included in the invoice, such as an agreement identifier or VAT number. Moreover, the person sending an electronic invoice must know the EDI code and e-invoicing operator of the recipient.
