The legal guidance service of the Artists’ Association of Finland will end immediately and indefinitely by decision of the Association's board. No new legal guidance requests will be accepted from March 26, 2025, onwards. The reason for this decision is the significant reduction in the Association's operational grant.
The termination of ongoing legal consultations will be agreed directly with the member artists in question.
Member artists of the Finnish Painters' Union can still contact the Painters' Union's legal advisory service.
Member artists of other member organizations of the Association can apply for legal aid from state legal aid offices. Legal aid can be partially or fully funded by the state, depending on the applicant's financial situation. Legal aid can be provided in all kinds of legal matters, both related to litigation and other issues. The nature and significance of the matter affect the content of the legal aid. Legal aid is not provided to companies or organizations. A private entrepreneur can receive legal aid in court matters related to business activities, but in other business-related matters only if there is a special reason.
Additionally, the Association is negotiating with private law firms for cooperation in the form of member benefit prices. Information about the Association's partners will be updated on the Services and benefits page.
The Association's financial situation also changes the lecture services and public art services offered by the Association. Lectures will not be offered for the time being. Changes will be made to public art services, which will be announced later.
The situation will affect also communications and other services. The publication of news and articles in the Taiteilija (Artist) magazine will mainly be discontinued for the time being. International IAA artist cards will no longer be distributed in paper versions from the office of the Artists' Association of Finland. In addition, announcements to be made on the notice board of the association's website will in future be submitted using an online form.
