Open Call for NUORET 2019 exhibition

Young Artists (Nuoret) 2019 exhibition calls for applications by artists under the age of 35 who are Finnish or live and work in Finland. The exhibition will be held at the Helsinki Kunsthalle from 30 March to 26 May 2019, and is organized by the Helsinki Kunsthalle and the Artists’ Association of Finland.

The application period is from 19 September to 15 October 2018 (by midnight 12:00 a.m.). The applicant must be under 35 while the exhibition is on display, that is they must be born after 27 May 1984.

Applications should be based on materials on the applicant’s artistic work. The applicant can submit 1–3 artworks or plans for works that have been made between 2017 and 2019. The application form can be filled out either in Finnish, Swedish or English. The application fee is 25 euro. The artists participating the exhibition will receive an enumeration.

The artists selected for the exhibition will be announced in November on the Artists’ Association of Finland’s website The artists are selected by a jury chaired by artist Jaana Kokko. Other members of the jury are Aleksandra Kiskonen (Academy of Fine Arts), Miia Varis (Arts Academy of Turku University of Applied Sciences) and Kiira Miesmaa (Taidehalli).

Produced by the Artists’ Association of Finland, the Young Artists exhibition is a showcase of new Finnish contemporary art. Next year the exhibition will celebrate its 80th anniversary. The Young Artists exhibition has followed the same guidelines since 1939: new works not more than three years old by Finnish or international visual artists residing in Finland under 35 years of age.
